Ravne na Koroškem and Jesenice, 10 April 2020 – SIJ Group has donated 17000 protective surgical masks; of which 7000 to three local hospitals in Jesenice and Ravne na Koroškem, and in cooperation with the Embassy of the Russian Federation and the Slovenian-Russian Society 10000 masks to nursing homes for the elderly across Slovenia. SIJ Group, with its 3800 employees, strickly adheres to the preventive measures in order to protect the health of its employees and ensure smooth business operations. By donating masks SIJ Group demonstrates socially responsible attitude to the most vulnerable groups as well as gratitude to the local medical personnel, thus expressing the inseparable connection with the communities of Jesenice and Ravne, where most of its production facilities and employees are located.
Today SIJ Group handed over 7.000 surgical protective masks to health institutions in Koroška and Gorenjska, where most of its production facilities are located. Jana Makuc, Director of General Hospital Slovenj Gradec, expressed her gratitude to SIJ Metal Ravne and SIJ Ravne Systems: »With the current use of disposable protective equipment, we estimate that these masks will be sufficient for a week. We call for a continued conscientious and responsible adherence to preventive measures and, what is really essential during the holidays is keeping social distance.«
Branko Žerdoner, CEO of SIJ Acroni, who handed over the protective masks to Jesenice Hospital and Obstetrician-Gynecologist Hospital Kranj, emphasizes: »in SIJ Acroni, and In accordance with SIJ Group guidelines, we feel responsibility to our communities to support to all those who now need help the most.«
The socially responsible attitude of SIJ Group has always been very important in Jesenice community, even more in these difficult times, agrees Miran Rems, Acting Director of General Hospital Jesenice: »People have proven that in spite of bad news and helplessness, we can still find compassion for a fellow human. And you are the reason why we can overcome difficulties and succeed. You have taken many worries from our shoulders and we are becoming increasingly aware that we will succeed because we have joined in achieving a common goal.«
Marko Breznik, Direktor of Obstetrician-Gynecologist Hospital Kranj, also stated that they will succeed with the help of their own ingenuity and the community: »Since regular supply of the protective equipment is still quite a problem, any help in this area is more than welcome for us and our patients. Therefore, we are very grateful that SIJ Acroni has come to our rescue.«
