Surface Hardened Rolls

Our forged rolls are engineered to meet the highest standards of productivity, reliability, and operational safety. They deliver superior surface quality, enable higher rolling speeds, and handle the most demanding materials, all while positively impacting Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).

These advanced properties are achieved through an innovative heat treatment process. Initially, rolls are quenched and tempered to establish base hardness, followed by precise surface hardening using dual-frequency induction. This is complemented by rapid cooling with liquid nitrogen at temperatures below -140°C and low-temperature tempering, ensuring optimal work hardness.

Rolls are produced from special alloyed tool steels, which are made using electric arc furnace with advanced vacuum technology processes or by an additional electroslag remelting process (ESR).

Our forged rolls withstand high pressure and are characterized by uniform hardness within +/- 0.5 HRC throughout the working  barrel and a homogeneous steel microstructure. 

Hardness drop throughout the hardened layer is max. 3%.

• Shells for Continuous Strip Casting

Our roll shells maintain consistent mechanical and material properties across their volume. Available in black, machined, or honed conditions with a maximum outer diameter of 1200 mm. Roll cores come plain or grooved, with precision manufacturing verified using 3D coordinate measuring technology.

Volume Hardened - Sendzimir Rolls

We provide an array of work, intermediate and back up rolls for cold rolling of stainless steel, silicon and non ferrous grades made from various high-speed steels (powder metallurgy, conventional HSS), ledeburitic and tool steels.

Our volume hardened rolls are characterized by total control of chemical composition, low grind-off, low percentage of accidents, high hardness and toughness, very uniform hardness, high wear resistance, high safety against micro cracks, cracks, spalling and high compressive strength.

Dimensional range:

• From 20 (0.79'') to 350 (14'') mm diameter
• Up to 3,000 (118'') mm length
• Up to 2,500 kg (5,600 lbs) weight

Rolls are hardened across full diameter to the hardness which corresponds to roll type and purpose.
